Presented at Curwensville Alliance on 1/08/23 by Rev. Brad Sickler.
We serve a God that scripture states is the absolute essence of holiness. What does that mean?
God is wholly other. He is totally different than us even though He created us in His image. He created everything out of nothing. He is completely righteous.
God is all sufficient. He doesn’t need us, but He wants us.
This holy, all sufficient God keeps His promises.
We have a sin nature, but God wants to save us. He loves us and wants us. He doesn’t need us, but He wants us.
We are not holy, and we have a holy, holy, holy God.
God made a solution for this problem when He took on flesh in the form of Jesus. The One who came, lived a perfect life, took our sins upon Himself, and was crucified on the cross. He died there because of our sin. He was buried, and rose from the dead. God made Him, who had no sin to be sin for us. So that in Christ we might be able to be holy.
God has promised He will supply our needs.
What is our response to this God that we follow? We seek to grow closer to God. Jesus opened the way to be in the presence of God.
We each need to be saved individually, but we are saved into the body of Christ. One of the ways the Lord develops holiness in us is our interaction with others.
