PODCAST: Life’s Difficult Terrain

Presented 3/20/2016

The Bible is full of parallels. For example, many people have observed how the biblical story of the people of Israel seems to parallel their own life. It’s almost unnerving, when you take note of it.

And many of us have found ourselves identifying with biblical characters along the way. With Peter or with Martha or with David or with Mary.

This podcast suggests that Jesus’ journey from The Mount of Olives to The Temple Mount is a journey that our lives, in very small ways, parallel.

As you listen, notice how important it is to have Jesus accompanying you on your own journey.

PODCAST: Living In An Evil World

Presented on 11/15/2015 at Curwensville Alliance Church by Pastor Steve Shields

One of the most moving songs of the last century was written by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss and was popularized by Louis Armstrong.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

Who doesn’t love that song?

Indeed, this is my Father’s world, and it exhibits a goodness that cannot be measured or contained. However, when one looks at the world one must agree, there are terrible things that happen every day. There is such a thing as evil.

This podcast notes the truth that there is such a thing as good and there is such a thing as evil and speaks about how we can live with this tension.

PODCAST: Tools for Going Through Trials

Presented on August 2, 2015 by Pastor Steve Shields at Curwensville Alliance Church

As newly-weds, living on next-to-nothing and attending college, my wife’s jaw dropped open when I told her I’d spent $18 on some wire-cutters for the work I was doing with Lamb Electric. And in our first ministry, when I told her I needed a more reliable socket-set, she was somewhat skeptical concerning the one I picked out. Likewise, when I asked for that set of drill-bits for Christmas, she was uncertain about the price tag.

trialspptBut she’s come to know that you can’t skimp when it comes to tools. I still have those wire-cutters. They are as good as they were the day I bought them. I still have that socket set. All of them are perfect. And this past week, I drilled a hole to hang something for her at the house with those drill-bits.

Tools are important.

That’s why God gives us tools of all kinds. Some of the most important are those we use when we go through trials.

This podcast speaks of three tools mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 3. Which one do you personally need to use more frequently?
