Radical or Rooted? :: PODCAST

Presented by Pastor Steve Shields at Curwensville Alliance Church on 11/26/2017

Words can be fascinating. They can aid us in understanding nearly anything, or, if misunderstood they can damage nearly anything.

When I was interviewing at Curwensville for the position of pastor, I kept using a word wrong. I meant to say tenet, which means an idea or belief that I hold close. But I kept saying tenant, which is a person renting an apartment.

Laurel helped me out by casually writing both of them on a piece of paper, and crossing out the one I should stop using.

Being sure of the meaning of words is important when you are trying to communicate clearly.

In this podcast, we look at the meaning of the word radical, so we can ensure we are actually doing what we understand Jesus asks us to do

PODCAST: Having trouble “getting” people’s commitment to Jesus?

Presented August 3, 2014 by Pastor Steve Shields

Nate used to get a look on his face that was half-way between puzzled and annoyed when he heard of someone’s allegiance to Jesus. He just didn’t get it. Nate could take church or leave it — but he wasn’t committed to it. He could read the Bible, or not — he wasn’t memorizing it. He could talk about God, or not — he never brought God up in conversation. So when others did any of these things regularly, Nate kind of thought of them as fanatics.

Maybe you sometimes feel the same.

What was Nate missing? This podcast contains some thoughts that might help all of us understand deep commitment to Christ.
